Been meaning to try this place. Settled on Elm St and if you weren't playing attention, you might miss it. Stopped in for a quick drink and bite. We got the flights. There are two options the Lao & Bartender's choice. All three were great but be warned, the left two were spicy! the right green one was my favorite. It was delicious! I was only peckish, so I just got the money bags, which are just Crab Rangoon's. Very tasty. The service was great and it's was could be a romantic experience for couples. I wonder if they turn off the main lights later at night.. it would look pretty cool in there.

I've walked by this restaurant many times whenever I'm downtown, and had on my list to try it out! I finally got the chance when my friends came into town for a visit. None of us are super familiar with lausch and food, but we were eager to try! The atmosphere inside is a nice modern vibe, it feels a little secluded so it's perfect for an intimate date night or nicer dinner. The four of us decided to share a few entrees so that we could try everything out. Overall it was an interesting experience, the food was tasty, and I love trying authentic food! No complaints about the service!

I feel like Lao is often overlooked when looking for a delicious downtown delight. Every time I come I think I need to come here more. Lots of great options for vegetarians and vegans too. So great for a diverse dietary needs meal with friends/family. Lao cuisine if you haven't had it is similar to that of Thai/Vietnamese with its own local specialities and flair of course. The interior design here is simple and clean. Table seating and a big focal bar area. We went to grab dinner here with some friends before seeing a show at the Tanger Center. Our waiter was attentive and helped to pace our meal accordingly. We started with some cocktails. Highly recommend the La Paleta (spicy tamarind vodka with mage juice and purée) and the Jade Elephant (vodka, simple syrup, coconut cream, lime and pineapple juice). Both are very unique and delicious. Extra points for also being beautifully presented with fun bright colors. We like apps so we got vegetable dumplings (Crispy fried dumplings, served with dipping sauce) Lao sausages (Mom's secret recipe seasoned with fresh herbs, lemongrass, cilantro, onions, spices) and some veggie and shrimp fresh rolls (Rice paper wrapped with vermicelli, cilantro, cucumber, lettuce, served with peanut hoisin sauce). I could just drink that peanut hoisin sauce that came with the fresh rolls as it was that tasty. The ingredients in the rolls were also nice and crisp. The green dipping sauce that same with the sausages was quite spicy, but I like spicy so not an issue for me. The seasoning in the sausages was nice. Lots of good appetizers to try on their menu. I also loved the entrees we got. Apparently so much so that I forgot to take any photos. If a Yelp Elite forgets photos, you know it was good! Most in my party got various selections of the Knau Khao (Fried rice with eggs, onions, scallions, in a special house sauce) which is available with chicken, tofu, or shrimp. The portion for this dish was crazy, a huge plate of rice. I was very impressed that they all somehow ate it all. I did steal a bite, and it was that good. I got the Khau Mee with chicken (Sweet & savory stir fried noodles topped with bean sprouts, scallions, cilantro, julienned scrambled eggs). I don't know what the sweet and savory is in these noodles exactly, but they are so good. Silky and tasty. There was a good amount of chicken included as well and liked the crunch of the fresh vegetables. If you come here and are t sure what to get, I can't recommend this dish enough.
